It’s about time
It has been nearly two weeks since my last post, so let’s talk about time. Or in my case, the lack of it. I’ve been busy the past two weeks with work, taxes, book-contest judging, setting up author events, not to mention all the errands, chores, and other activities that happen every day. I’m lucky to spend a few minutes working on my latest book. When you have little time, you realize how valuable it is.
People say time is money, but I say time is more valuable than money. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time.
So we find ways to save time. We buy appliances that eliminate tasks that once took hours each day. We hire professionals to do jobs we don’t have time to do or can’t do very well. We upgrade our technology to do work faster and more efficiently.
There are things we can’t avoid doing. We need time to sleep, eat healthy foods, exercise, and take care of our bodily needs. Try to save time by cutting corners on those, and you’ll wind up spending even more time in a hospital. We need to spend time with our partners and children. Forsaking those priorities means time and money spent in divorce court and therapy. More importantly, we need time for ourselves — to do things that give us pleasure and meaning. Ultimately, our time on earth is limited, and we don’t know how much of it we have.
